MTV True Life Chooses Deaf Student
Posted on February 12th, 2008 by admin
MTV is coming to town.
MTV is producing a documentary, True Life, I’m Deaf and has chosen Aubrey Millar from my hometown. You may remember Aubrey from a previous post:
The Oldest Goes off to High School.
David and Aubrey have been friends since they were babies. I’m so excited for Aubrey and I look forward to watching this documentary unfold!
Update:
MTV came and shot footage for two days. Now it’s a matter of going back to the producer and determining if they’ll select Aubrey for the documentary or search for others.
Update II: The producers said they’re going to pass–”Aubrey is really well-adjusted and there’s not enough of a story here to film.”

This is my daughter, Aubrey…I can’t believe they chose her! We are really excited for her and hope she has a blast making this documentary with MTV!! We are so proud of her and Karen, you are as close to a second mom to her as you can get. You have been a real “go to” person for Aubrey…thanks for all your love an support over the years!!
Beth
How freaking exciting is that!!!! Go Aubrey and Aunt Karen with your bad selves!!! Jodi
Great scoop, Karen! I’m only sorry my newsletter went out an hour ago or I would have included this wonderful news. You should be getting a bit of extra traffic from HearingExchange today.
That is cool! Be sure to let us know when the show comes on and we will watch it :o)
Exciting!!! I wonder when it will air? I’m really excited to see that series. I love the name Aubrey, too- that was our “girl” pick (Nolan ended up being a boy, lol).
Congrats Aubrey!
Is this only one? I thought there will be several participants.
Did u know anything about the others?
Amy
Oh, that’s so cool
congrats to her! but drats I wasn’t chosen. I was so hoping I would be chosen for this.
I hope she’s not getting a CI for the sake of the show…can you please clarify if CI will be an issue in this show? I can’t remember what the original press release said from MTV’s True Life.
It is my understanding that there will be other participants in this documentary.
I never thought I’d be pro MTV at this point in my life, but it sounds like they are doing something good!
Ahhh NO she is not getting a CI for the sake of a t.v. show!! I believe they are following 1 or 2 others as well, I know they are filming someone in New Jersey. I think they wanted to follow someone going through the CI process but not 100% sure who it is.
